The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, informed newsmen during a live session in Port Harcourt, that it will be difficult for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take over power in 2023.
According to Wike, the present National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, cannot lead the party to victory in the 2023 general election, as they have failed to carry out their responsibilities as an opposition political party effectively.
Governor Wike, who called for the replacement of the NWC members, revealed that, PDP is the ‘only’ credible alternative party that Nigerians are expecting to take over power from the All Progressive Congress in 2023.
According to Governor Wike;
“With what we have now, it will be difficult to take over power in 2023 if there are no amendment. Leadership was the problem. The point is, the current NWC, as of today, cannot lead the party to victory. Nobody has said they have not done well, but we are talking about the challenges ahead”.
Governor Wike, went further to state that, Nigerians are willing and ready to vote for PDP, but are in doubt if PDP are ready to take over power.
“If you go to the public and ask Nigerians if PDP is ready to take over power in 2023, if you take referendum, you will know that Nigerians are even waiting for PDP. But the fear of Nigerians is whether PDP is ready to take over power.” Governor Wike says.
