The Mursi is one among them. Like every other tribal community, the Mursis too have their own traditional way of living, but this is something you will have goosebumps after knowing.

Here women have a lip piercing to look beautiful or say this is their tradition. After attaining puberty girls often undergo this procedure and have their lips pierced after which they put a plate made up of clay in it which is called dhebi. Girls and women first bake it then they paint it to look more attractive in order to increase the size of the lip holes girls keep on changing their lip plates accordingly.

This tradition is said to be got in existence long ago when the rich kings or other powerful people used to kidnap Mursi women and spend the night with them, therefore, Mursi men started getting their wives lives pierced and made them wear big clay plates so that they look ugly hence could be saved from evil eyes. Ever Since then it has become their tradition and sign of beauty. With the passage of time, Mursi women can choose whether they want to undergo this procedure or not.

Many people believe that it is dangerous to their health and can cause severe damage to their body or even can lead to death but Mursis say they use natural plants to protect themselves from any such infection, however, it is their part of culture and tradition they have started becoming liberal regarding some of their customs and traditions.
