Talks for the extension of Raheem Sterling’s contract is set to be restarted after previous talks broke down. Sterling faced a difficult end of the season as he became a peripheral figure at the club.
The English international found himself on the bench more often than not. This led to talks that he will be shown the exit door. The talks worsened when it was reported that Sterling will be part of a deal in exchange for Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
However, Raheem Sterling has bounced back to form with a spectacular performance at the Euros. His performance reminded Pep Guardiola of what Sterling can bring to the table and convinced the board that his contract should be renewed.
Sterling handled the first contract negotiation as he had already parted ways with his agent but he was unable to reach an agreement with the club.
Before he extends his contract which is set to expire by 2023, he wants assurances of regular playing time and an increase in his wages to mark his importance to the team.
