The 2021-22 Premier league season is just two weeks on and already we have the first own goal of the campaign. It is never a thing of joy when a player scores an own goal especially if it turns out to have a drastic effect on the scoreline at the end of the day.
With over forty goals registered so far in the current season, take a look at the goalkeeper that scored the first own goal of the campaign;
Tim Krul
Tim Krul is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier league club Norwich City and Holland national football team.
Before joining the Canaries in 2018, the 33 year old previously played for other Premier league clubs like Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion.
Earlier today, Krul became the first player (Goalkeeper) to score an own goal in the 2021-22 Premier league season when Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City lashed the ball across the box which ricocheted off the Dutchman and into the back of the net.

It was the opening goal of the game which later proved to be disastrous as the Champions romped Norwich City 5-0 at the Etihad.
Tim Krul will definitely be disappointed with his mistake and the end result, but he’s no doubt a good shot stopper whose brilliant goalkeeping helped the Netherlands finish third place in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
He was equally part of the Norwich City squad that won the Championship trophy last season on their way back to the top flight.
The former Newcastle United man has been married since 2015 and is a father of two children.
